Some of the original yoga texts define yoga as a method for finding peace from the incessant flow of thoughts in the mind. This short course brings together both traditional yoga practices, including movement, breathing, relaxation and meditation and combines them with contemporary knowledge about the causes and effects of stress and anxiety. It is suitable for those entirely new to yoga or those with an existing practice.
A range of teaching methods and exercises will be used and additional resources are provided to support home practice.
See my bio page for details of my yoga qualifications. I am currently completing my third year of a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and draw on this knowledge in order to support the content of this course. I also lead both MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) courses having undertaken rigorous training with Bangor University, which is a centre of excellence in this field.
The course forms a perfect precursor to those interested in the full 8 week programme or those looking for a refresher.
Classes are ideally situated for Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme, Cheadle, Hazel Grove, Davenport and Stockport.
